Private Pilot

A mile of highway will take you but a mile; a mile of runway will take you anywhere.
Earning your Private Pilot Certificate is one of the most rewarding accomplishments you can achieve. It’s your ticket to explore the skies — whether you want to fly for fun, travel on your own schedule, or start your journey toward a professional aviation career.

With your PPL, you’ll be able to:
-Fly single-engine airplanes for personal or recreational purposes
-Carry passengers (not for hire)
-Travel anywhere in the U.S. and beyond under visual flight rules (VFR)

Instrument Rating

An Instrument Rating (IR) is the next major milestone in your aviation journey. It allows you to fly in the clouds, on instruments alone, and under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) — expanding your skills, confidence, and safety.

With an Instrument Rating, you can:
-Fly in reduced visibility and cloud conditions
-Operate safely in controlled airspace and busy weather environments
-Rely on precision navigation systems (GPS, VOR, ILS, etc.)
-Become a more proficient, confident, and professional pilot

Commercial Pilot

Your Commercial Pilot Certificate is the key to flying for hire or compensation — whether that means becoming a flight instructor, charter pilot, aerial survey pilot, or building time toward an airline career.

With a Commercial Pilot Certificate, you can:
-Fly professionally and earn income doing what you love
-Serve as pilot in command (PIC) of aircraft for hire
-Meet the experience requirements to pursue airline or corporate flying
-Build advanced aeronautical skill and precision

Biennial Flight Reviews (BFRs) and Instrument Proficiency Checks (IPCs)

IPC

Regain or Maintain Your IFR Currency
If your instrument currency has lapsed — or you simply want to fine-tune your IFR flying — an Instrument Proficiency Check will bring you back to full IFR proficiency.

When It’s Required:
IFR currency requires 6 instrument approaches, holding procedures, and intercepting/tracking courses within the previous 6 calendar months.
If you go beyond that 6-month window (and the additional 6-month “grace” period), you’ll need an IPC with a CFII, examiner, or authorized instructor before flying under IFR again.

What the IPC Includes:
Preflight planning and weather evaluation
ATC communication and IFR clearances
Holding procedures and instrument approaches
Unusual attitude recovery and partial-panel flying
Lost communications and emergency procedures
Each IPC is tailored to your experience level and the type of flying you do — whether you’re preparing for IMC operations, refreshing after a break, or fine-tuning for professional flying.
Duration: Typically 1.5–3 hours (ground + flight)
Cost: Varies based on aircraft and duration — usually $400–$800

BFR

Every Pilot, Every 24 Months
Under FAA §61.56, all pilots must complete a Flight Review every 24 calendar months to continue acting as pilot in command.

The Flight Review Includes:
At least 1 hour of ground instruction, reviewing:
FAA regulations and procedures
Airspace, weather, and sectional navigation
Airman decision-making and risk management
At least 1 hour of flight instruction, covering:
Normal and emergency maneuvers
Takeoffs, landings, and stall recovery
Navigation and flight planning
Review of any areas you want to improve
A Flight Review isn’t a test — it’s an opportunity to refresh your skills, boost confidence, and fly with a certified instructor who can help you identify areas for improvement.
Duration: Typically 2–3 hours (ground + flight)
Cost: Usually $300–$600 depending on aircraft and instructor time
